Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the art of using plant based extracts to stimulate the body holistically towards healing. The application and/or inhalation of essential oils produces a reaction in the mind, body and spirit (energy) that promotes wellbeing.
With over 100 differing types of oil, there is an oil for everything. In fact, one of the sayings in the industry whenever an aromatherapist is asked about a specific ailment is "There's an oil for that!"
Aromatherapy is not just about knowing what oil to apply (or inhale) or whereabouts on the body it goes, it is about the practical application of years of study in determining why an oil should be used. Knowing that Peppermint OIl can be applied neat to the skin, or that it goes well in cooking, or that its vibrational frequency affects anger and depression positively is all well and good. But the simple joy in relieving a clients splitting headache behind their eyes, by applying a drop of peppermint oil to their temples and then along their carotid artery to release pressure in the greater occipital nerve, is invaluable.
This statement is not to demonstrate knowledge, but to show that it is not the accumulation of knowledge that makes study worthwhile, instead it is the application of that knowledge in healing and helping others that makes this art indispensable.
Aromatherapy is included as part of our Initial Healing Consultation, One Hour Sessions, and our Balance Healing Consultation services located here.
dōTERRA Oils
Here at Mind Body Spirit Balance our oil of choice is dōTERRA. Their ethical stance and pure quality of oils is what drive us to choosing them as a supplier for our work with you. We have seen a massive difference in our clients experiences since using these oils and know that you will find them to be exceptional.
All our work is done in combination with these oils. For instance, if your visit to Mind Body Spirit Balance with a biomechanical issue, such as knee damage, our treatment of you will be biomechanical movement therapy, combined with an oil (or two) that compliments the healing for you at that time. You will be taught when and where to apply the oil so that you are able to use the healing properties when you are continuing your rehabilitation work at home in between appointments with us.
Care when using Oils
As with any addition to your personal care regimen you should be aware of the outcomes. Whilst all oils are safe when used the way they are intended from thousands of years of study, like anything, excessive use can become problematic for a few individuals. Some oils carry a GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe for Consumption) whereas others do not and should never be ingested. Some carry a warning for skin hypersensitivity whereby prolonged use in a localised area can result in feeling like the skin is burnt to the touch. So it is about education in what, where and why that becomes key to the use of these oils. This is part of the healing journey that we teach. Each journey is unique to the client and each oil recommended and its use will be unique to you as well.
