Bio-Mechanical Movement

What is Movement Therapy

Your body (fascia) stores trauma. This can occur from walking, running, sitting, even just sleeping. Sadly todays modern sedentary lifestyle promotes less movement which results in more trauma.

Trauma is perhaps the wrong word. It conjures images of broken and damaged humans, but to be clear, "Trauma" is simply a physical injury. These injuries are stored in our muscles, bones, connective tissues, etc, and our fascia. Trauma often results in the crystallisation (calcification) of tissue (or structure). The result of which is that Range of Motion (ROM) or function is reduced or impaired.

Movement Therapy uses the slow approach to restoring your bodies ability to move to assist in healing you. Increasing ROM and functional movement stimulates the area in question resulting in removal of the stored trauma. It doesn't happen overnight, but it does happen.

Put as simplistically as possible Movement Therapy is: "Using movement to create healing potential within your body."

Working with your Movement Therapist, together you will discover a series or group of safe and developing movements that allows you to create the most beneficial healing environment within your connected systems. This may be as simple as "Assisted Knee Bends" for serious Knee injuries moving to "Unassisted Single Offline Leg Squats" for minor (and professional training) injuries.

Everyone's journey, and ability is unique to them, so each person's program will be catered to them, for them to create the maximal healing environment.

Our Movement Therapy is included as part of our Initial Healing Consultation, One Hour Sessions, and our Balance Healing Consultation services located here.
