aromatherapy in practice
Aromatherapy
In practice, Aromatherapy is the application and/or inhalation of essential oils to produce a reaction in the mind, body and spirit (energy) that promotes wellbeing.
Practical application covers a wide range of techniques and responses with many oils overlapping in their uses and effects. Oils can be applied topical, taken internally (although only oils tested and generally regarded as safe for consumption), diffused, inhaled, applied neat or diluted, with oils blended and pure.
Applications can affect: The Skin, Circulation, Muscles, Joints, Respiration, Digestion, Urinary, Endocrine, Immune, Nervous, the Mind, and so on!
Our Aromatherapy Service is included as part of our Initial Healing Consultation, One Hour Sessions, and our Balance Healing Consultation services located here.
Care when using Oils
As with any addition to your personal care regimen you should be aware of the outcomes. Whilst all oils are safe when used the way they are intended from thousands of years of study, like anything, excessive use can become problematic for a few individuals. Some oils carry a GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe for Consumption) whereas others do not and should never be ingested. Some carry a warning for skin hypersensitivity whereby prolonged use in a localised area can result in feeling like the skin is burnt to the touch. So it is about education in what, where and why that becomes key to the use of these oils. This is part of the healing journey that we teach. Each journey is unique to the client and each oil recommended and its use will be unique to you as well.
